Quadrille has always been danced in the Caribbean by the European colonists who introduced it and by both the free and enslaved blacks that appropriated it. Quadrille still contributes, thanks to Jacques Danican and Flamme Abymienne, to the richness of Guadeloupe's Creole culture.
